Minister Chaudhary Promises Improved Fertiliser Supply for Farmers

Bharatpur, July 11 — Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary has assured farmers that the government is taking continuous steps to ensure a smoother and more reliable supply of chemical fertilisers in the coming days.

Speaking at a programme in Khairahani, Chitwan, on Saturday, Minister Chaudhary said the government has imported a higher volume of chemical fertilisers this fiscal year compared to previous years. She acknowledged that technical issues in supply management had caused delays in delivering fertilisers to farmers on time.

The minister said preparations are underway to begin importing a new consignment of fertilisers from the first day of the upcoming fiscal year. She added that the government is also exploring more efficient import mechanisms to avoid future shortages.

To streamline distribution, the ministry plans to introduce a nationwide fertiliser supply calendar and strengthen coordination among the federal, provincial and local governments to ensure timely delivery across the country.

Despite these efforts, Minister Chaudhary noted that balancing fertiliser demand and supply remains a challenge as agricultural activities continue to expand. She said the government has already distributed 550,000 metric tonnes of chemical fertilisers nationwide during the current fiscal year, but rising demand has continued to put pressure on supplies.
