Four Journalists Honoured with Press Freedom and Journalism Awards in Morang
Morang, July 11 — Four journalists were honoured with various journalism awards during the 15th anniversary celebration of the Sancharkarmi Sanchar Cooperative Organization held on Saturday.
Journalist Shiva Bahadur Karki received the Torendra–Indira Pradhan Press Freedom Award, along with a cash prize of Rs 51,000, in recognition of his contribution to press freedom.
Similarly, Arjun Acharya was presented with the Om Prakash Goyal Economic Journalism Prize, which carries a cash award of Rs 50,000.
The Chandralal–Durgadevi Dahal Journalism Prize was awarded to Padam Sardar, who received Rs 21,000. At the same time, Rasmita Udas was honoured with the Mina Shrestha Women Journalist Prize, accompanied by a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
Speaker of the Koshi Province Assembly, Ambar Bahadur Bista, presented the awards to the recipients. Speaking at the event, he emphasized the important role of the media in a democratic society and urged journalists to provide constructive and healthy criticism of the government’s performance.
The awards were presented as part of the cooperative’s annual recognition of outstanding contributions to journalism and media development.
