Nepal calls for stronger UN Development System

New York: Nepal has stressed the need to strengthen the United Nations Development System to reinforce multilateralism and address future global challenges.

Speaking at a discussion on the future of multilateralism at the UN Headquarters in New York, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Lok Bahadur Thapa, said the UN Development System must remain effective not only for achieving the 2030 Agenda but also for addressing challenges beyond it.

He said the decisions made today would help shape a multilateral system capable of delivering for future generations.

Ambassador Thapa also emphasised the importance of stronger partnerships and solidarity, noting that the engagement of civil society, youth, academia, local authorities and the private sector is essential for building an effective and relevant development system.
