Former DPM Paudel remanded to judicial custody for three more days
Kathmandu, June 29: The Special Court has permitted to keep former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, in judicial custody for three more days to investigate on the money laundering related cases.
A divisional bench of the Special Court judges comprising Narayan Prasad Paudel, Hemanta Rawal and Umesh Koirala today allowed the Department of Money Laundering Investigation to probe the case by keeping him in custody for three additional days.
The Special Court had earlier allowed Paudel, also the Vice President of the CPN (UML), to be held in custody for seven days for investigation in a money laundering case.
The order states, ‘During the investigation related to the money laundering case, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who was arrested for his alleged involvement, was presented by the Department of Money Laundering Investigation for an extension for investigation purposes, and today the extension has been granted for the second time for three days.’
Paudel was arrested from Surkhet on June 22 and brought to Kathmandu to be produced in the court. He has been kept in judicial custody for investigation.
