Lawmakers demand relief for damages in disaster and wildlife invasion

Kathmandu: The lawmakers have demanded that the government provide relief to the households suffering from disasters and wildlife invasions in various parts of the country.

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting today, the lawmakers drew the government’s attention towards increasing cases of human-wildlife conflict.

NC lawmaker Janak Raj Joshi informed parliament that hundreds of people were forced to live under the open sky after the recent floods in Budhinanda municipality of Bajura district. Immediate relief was needed for them, he added.

NCP’s Prem Bahadur Bayak said the storm that occurred at Lamkichuha, Janaki and Bardgoriya of Kailali district had affected 84 houses and a school at Tikapur, which require immediate attention and engagement from the government.

CPN UML’s lawmaker Laxmi Prasad Pokharel made aware the parliament, seeking immediate action from the government to curb attacks of wild boar in Bhairabhi rural municipality of Dailekh district.

NC lawmaker Narendra Kerung shared that over 1.5 million people along the Mechi Highway were living in trepidation after the federal government’s plan to remove their structures. It must stop, he demanded. Afsana Banu of RSP viewed that some youths were falsely implicated and a case was filed against them over the September 9 incidents.

The families of such youths were in agitation at Maitighar, so the government needs to address them, she added.
