‘WHO ready to cooperate with Nepal’

Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehta and the Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, held a meeting in Switzerland.

Ministry’s Assistant Spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari said that the meeting between Minister Mehta and the WHO Director-General was held during the 79th World Health Assembly, organised by the World Health Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland.

After the meeting, Minister Mehta said that the meeting with the WHO Director General was highly productive.

During the meeting, WHO Director General Dr Tedros said that the WHO was already ready to cooperate with Nepal and extend support, Ministry’s Assistant Spokesperson Dr Adhikari quoted.

Prior to this, Minister Mehta held separate meetings with China’s National Health Commission Minister Lei Haichao and Indian Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda in Geneva.

Minister Mehta is leading a three-member delegation to the 79th World Health Assembly of the World Health Organisation.

The 79th World Health Assembly is being held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 18–23 May 2026. RSS
