Minister Chaudhary discusses with Foreign Ministry to ease supply of chemical fertilizer

Kathmandu: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Gita Chaudhary, has held a discussion with Foreign Ministry in a bid to ease supply of chemical fertilizers.

During the discussion, Minister Chaudhary said the supply of chemical fertilisers was facing problems in the country owing to crisis in West Asia. She urged Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal to take a diplomatic initiative to resolve this issue.

The Minister has already made the concerned agencies aware to ensure a smooth supply of the fertilizers which is in stock.

Currently, we have the stock of chemical fertilisers sufficient for the current fiscal year; however, additional efforts are needed to guarantee the prompt supply of agricultural essentials in the peak season of paddy plantations, according to the Minister’s press coordinator, Sarita Tharu.

Meanwhile, Minister Chaudhary has decided to purchase 150 thousands metric tonnes of chemical fertilisers through the G2G model. Necessary coordination with Indian side has been advanced via Foreign Ministry as per the Cabinet decision, Tharu added.
