Inaruwa Municipality Begins Removal of Illegal Roadside Structures

Inaruwa (Sunsari), April 12: Inaruwa Municipality has launched a drive to remove illegal structures built on encroached public land along the East-West Highway.

Chief Administrative Officer Dilli Niraula said the municipality has started dismantling shops, kiosks and other structures occupying public space to meet highway standards.

According to the municipality, earlier notices issued on March 19, giving a one-week deadline to vacate the area, were ignored. Following this, dozers have been deployed to clear the encroachments.

Mayor Kedar Bhandari said the action was necessary as illegal structures and construction materials scattered along the Bus Chowk to Sukuwagachhi stretch had obstructed movement and affected the city’s appearance.

Residents have welcomed the move and urged authorities to continue the clean-up campaign. They said unmanaged roadside businesses and encroachment had made Inaruwa bazaar congested and chaotic.

The municipality has stated that the clearance drive will continue to ensure proper use of public space and smoother traffic flow along the highway.
