Over 700,000 visitors explore Mustang in 11 months
Mustang: Mustang recorded 705,754 visitors in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS, according to data from the border police office in the district.
The figure is almost equal to the total number of visitors in the previous fiscal year, showing stable tourist arrivals in the region.
Of the total visitors, 460,924 were domestic tourists and 244,830 were foreign nationals. A total of 151,160 vehicles entered the region through the Beni–Jomsom road during the same period.
Tourist arrivals increased significantly in May alone, with 90,939 foreign visitors and 40,838 domestic visitors recorded. During this month, 27,488 vehicles were used for travel in the region.
Authorities said the rise in Indian tourists contributed to the overall increase. Many Indian visitors are traveling under a dollar-saving policy introduced by the Indian government, making destinations like Mustang more attractive.
Mustang sees high domestic tourist flow during public holidays, leading to full occupancy in hotels along the Beni–Jomsom route.
According to Police Inspector Santosh Basyal, around 80 percent of foreign tourists are from India, many of whom visit the sacred Muktinath Temple. Other natural and cultural attractions in Mustang also continue to draw visitors.
