On Air Station:

DoI clarifies migrant workers no need to carry additional documents

Kathmandu: The Department of Immigration has clarified that individuals going for foreign employment are no longer required to present any additional documents including payment receipts other than the labour permit letter.

The Department issued this statement in response to a notice released by the Department of Foreign Employment on April 6, which had caused confusion among prospective foreign workers.

In its notice, the DoFE had asked Nepali migrant workers to provide additional documents, including the air ticket to the destination country and its receipt, proof of service charge clearance from the respective recruitment agencies (if their visas were processed by such agencies), and other documents.

The Department of Immigration has also urged that, after completing the necessary procedures, any Nepali citizen can travel abroad without confusion.

The Department also reminded that  that a provision is already in place allowing Nepali citizens traveling abroad on a “visit visa” to depart with a self-declaration, as long as they possess a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed air ticket to their destination, and a valid entry visa for the respective country.
