Hospital Service Reform Procedure issued to improve patient services

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has issued the “Hospital Service Reform Procedure 2082” to make hospital services more people-friendly, accessible, and effective.

According to the ministry, the procedure has been introduced under the Public Health Service Act, 2075 BS.

The new provisions require hospitals to provide quality services in an easy manner, develop an integrated electronic patient record system, and ensure laboratory reports are available 24 hours a day.

It also directs doctors to prescribe only medicines available in hospital pharmacies, ensure daily stock of essential medicines, and issue referral slips when sending patients to government hospitals.

The procedure further restricts entry of medical representatives during service hours.
