Govt Urges Shutdown of Bridge Course Centres from Baisakh 1

Kathmandu, March 29: The government has directed concerned authorities to close all facilities operating in the name of ‘bridge courses’, citing their negative impact on students.

In a notice issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology asked educational institutions and related agencies to halt all preparation classes conducted for entrance or admission to higher education programmes.

The Ministry stated that such courses put unnecessary academic pressure on students, affect their mental well-being, and undermine equal access to education. It has instructed institutions running these programmes to completely shut them down starting from Baisakh 1, 2083 BS.

In a press statement, Joint Secretary and Ministry spokesperson Shiva Kumar Sapkota warned that failure to comply with the directive would lead to legal action. District Administration Offices have also been instructed to take action against those violating the notice.
