Guglielmo Arena appointed head coach of national football team


Kathmandu: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has appointed Italian coach Guglielmo Arena as the new head coach of the Nepali national football team.

ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai conferred the appointment letter on Arena on Friday.

He arrived in Nepal two weeks ago. Born in Switzerland, Arena holds Italian citizenship.

As an AFC Pro-License coach, he has extensive experience in managing various clubs and national teams on four continents. Arena will be the head coach here for one year.

He was the coach of Laos’ senior and youth national football teams during his recent stint. Nepal is facing Hong Kong under Arena’s guidance in an international friendly match being played on March 26.

After playing with Hong Kong, the team departs for Laos for the concluding match of the third round of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Upon receiving the appointment letter, Arena vowed to improve the skills of Nepali players and contribute to the production of talented players. RSS
