Air travel to West Asia partially resumes after 12-day suspension
Kathmandu: Air travel to the West Asia region from Nepal has partially resumed after a 12-day suspension.
Spokesperson of Tribhuvan International Airport, Santusht Kumar Basnet, said some international airlines have started limited operations after monitoring the situation for several days.
Flights had been suspended since February 28 due to safety concerns following the outbreak of war involving Iran. As a result, several international flights from Nepal were cancelled.
Airspace restrictions in countries including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Bahrain had affected flight operations.
According to Basnet, some airlines including Air Arabia and Flydubai have resumed limited flights. Himalaya Airlines has also been operating partial flights to Dubai for the past four days, carrying around 100 passengers daily.
