Five-Vehicle Collision at Daunne Leaves Eight Injured
Nawalparasi (East), March 11: Eight people were injured after five vehicles collided at Daunne along the East–West Highway on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred at Ghiukhola in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 when a container truck with an Indian number plate attempted to overtake vehicles on a one-way stretch of the road. According to Superintendent of Police Yubraj Khadka, the container was travelling eastward from Sunauli when the collision happened.
Among the injured are motorcyclist Amar Karki, 30, and pillion rider Mahendra Mahatara, 25, both from Kalikot district.
Six other injured individuals were passengers of a bus involved in the crash. They have been identified as Binod Kumar Achhami of Ramechhap, bus driver Shankar Bista, Udiram Bista and Darshan Pokharel from Rolpa, Chandra Singh Thapa from Sunsari, and Yagya Prasad Bhusal from Pyuthan.
All the injured have been taken to Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital in Danda for treatment.
Police said the container driver fled the scene following the accident. Authorities are working to clear the vehicles and restore traffic along the highway, which was temporarily obstructed after the crash.
