Gulf states condemn attack on UAE Embassy in Damascus

April 6, Kathmandu: The United Arab Emirates and several Gulf countries have condemned an attack on the UAE embassy in Damascus, where protesters targeted the compound earlier this week.

According to official statements, the UAE denounced the incident and called on Syrian authorities to ensure the protection of diplomatic missions in accordance with international law, including the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Authorities in Syria said security forces responded to the incident and that a number of individuals suspected of involvement had been arrested. An investigation is ongoing.

Countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain issued statements condemning the attack and expressing solidarity with the UAE. They stressed the importance of protecting diplomatic premises and respecting international conventions.

The Gulf Cooperation Council also condemned the incident, describing it as a violation of diplomatic norms.
