Trishuli Bus Accident in Dhading Leaves 17 Dead, 24 Injured

Kathmandu, Feb 23: A passenger bus traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu plunged into the Trishuli River in Dhading early Monday, claiming at least 17 lives and injuring 24 others.

The bus, registration number Ga 1 Kha 1421, went off the Prithvi Highway at Bhainsigauda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality–5 at around 1:30 am.

Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, spokesperson for the Armed Police Force, confirmed that 17 bodies have been recovered, while 24 injured passengers were rescued and taken to various hospitals. The identities of the victims and the exact cause of the accident are yet to be determined.

Rescue operations are ongoing with coordination among all three security agencies. A specialized team of divers from the Armed Police Force Disaster Management Unit at Adamghat has been deployed, under the command of DSP Sunil Giri from the Disaster Management Training School in Kurintar.
