Light rain and snow likely in high hills and Himalayan areas

February 18, Kathmandu: Due to the partial influence of western winds, parts of the country are experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

At present, fog has been observed in some areas of the Terai. The high hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are partly cloudy, while the weather in other areas remains mainly clear.

This afternoon, fog and mist are likely at a few locations in the Tarai. The hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy. One or two places in the high hilly and Himalayan areas of these provinces may receive light rain or snowfall.

Tonight, fog is likely to persist in some Terai areas. Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are forecast to have generally cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country will remain mainly clear. Light rain or snowfall is likely at a few places in the Himalayan region, and light rain at one or two places in the hilly areas of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The department has urged the public to remain cautious in view of possible fog, light rain and snowfall in the affected areas.
