President Paudel Hails Economic, Social Role of Nepalis in Japan
Tokyo, Feb 3: President Ramchandra Paudel has praised the Nepali community in Japan for its meaningful contribution to Nepal’s economy and social development.
Addressing a reception organised by the Nepali Embassy in Tokyo on Tuesday, President Paudel, who is on a four-day official visit to Japan, stated that Nepalis living and working in Japan have played a crucial role in supporting their motherland. He expressed hope that they would continue to contribute to the vision of a prosperous Nepal by applying the knowledge, skills, capital and technology they have gained abroad back home.
The President said the Government of Nepal remains committed to safeguarding the interests and addressing the concerns of Nepalis engaged in various professions and activities in Japan.
Emphasising good governance as a national priority, President Paudel said transparency, accountability, public participation and the rule of law must remain at the core of state governance to ensure effective service delivery. He noted that the recent youth-led movement in Nepal has further amplified the public demand for good governance.
Referring to the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, the President stated that the poll aims to ensure prosperity through good governance while protecting the overall interests of the people. He expressed confidence that the election would open new avenues for political stability and development in the country and called on Nepalis living abroad to play their part in making the electoral process successful.
Marking the 70th anniversary of Nepal–Japan diplomatic relations as a historic milestone, President Paudel described Japan as a reliable and important development partner in Nepal’s socio-economic progress. He recalled Japan’s notable support in areas such as human resource development, health, agriculture, infrastructure, environmental conservation and cultural preservation.
Highlighting the strong potential for Japanese investment in Nepal’s priority sectors, President Paudel said Nepal has introduced legal, procedural and institutional reforms to promote trade, attract foreign investment and encourage innovation. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive business environment and urged members of the Nepali community to share this message with potential investors in Japan.
The President also expressed confidence that the Nepali community in Japan remains a vital pillar of bilateral relations and would continue to contribute to Japan’s prosperity through its traditions, integrity and unity.
