HoR member elections: Industrialists demand strict enforcement of code of conduct
Kathmandu: Members of the representative organizations of the private sector have demanded strict enforcement of election code of conduct issued by the Election Commission.

At an interaction organized here today by the Election Commission with umbrella organizations of the private sector in view of the House of Representatives (HoR) scheduled for March 5, the speakers drew the attention towards full-fledged implementation of election code of conduct arguing it would only lead to the free, fair and impartial elections.
Chairperson of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Kamalesh Kumar Agrawal recommended to put tough monitoring measures for the enforcement of code of conduct and immediately take actions against code violators. He expressed the readiness from the industry sector to get the election code of conduct enforced and propel voter education.
Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Anjan Shrestha emphasized the need of policy clarity and political stability for investment-friendly environment in private sector. He appreciated the arrangement for candidates to mandatorily use banking system for transparent poll expenses, and demanded its robust implementation.
Also speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industry (FNCSI), Umesh Prasad Singh suggested the EC to lay further focus on voter/civic education. Likewise, Chairperson of Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) Binayak Shah urged the EC to help create atmosphere to bring the tourists coming to Nepal via air and surface routes during elections to hotels and destination.
He also pledged to provide necessary cooperation and coordination during the elections. Chairperson of Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (ReBaN) Sangharsh Bista expressed willingness to lend necessary support to the EC on the topics such as election code of conduct and voter education.
Chief Executive Officer of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) Ramchandra Sedhai said the EC should facilitate and manage the Nepal-bound tourists during election times.
Among other airing their opinion on the occasion were General Manager of the Salt Trading Urmila Shrestha, Director General of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries Ghanashyam Ojha, and Mallika Shrestha of Federation of Women Entrepreneurs of Nepal. EC’s Joint Secretary Gyan Hari Ghimire delivered a presentation on election preparations and progress made so far.
