PSBN issues Public Service Broadcasting Nepal Election Code of Conduct-2082

Kathmandu: Public Service Broadcasting Nepal (PSBN) has issued the “Public Service Broadcasting Nepal Election Code of Conduct, 2082” with a focus on the election of members of the House of Representatives in 2082.

The Code of Conduct has been implemented with the objective of conducting the House of Representatives election, scheduled for the 5th of March, in a clean, free, fair, and dignified environment.

Approved by today’s meeting of the Public Service Broadcasting Nepal Board of Directors, the Code of Conduct applies to all PSB Nepal media—including Radio Nepal, Nepal Television, and online and digital platforms—as well as all journalists and employees.

According to the Code of Conduct, In producing and broadcasting election-related content, journalism must uphold the constitutional values of Nepal’s federal democratic republic, ensuring impartiality, neutrality, balance, and accuracy.

The Code prohibits speculative or exaggerated content, election forecasts, pre-election surveys, and any material that seeks to support or oppose political parties or candidates. Public Service Broadcasting Nepal has reaffirmed its commitment to balanced coverage of all political parties and candidates and has called on all concerned to fully comply with the Code of Conduct.
