PM Karki urges support for fair elections at Lalitpur Metropolitan City anniversary

December 17, Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the country is currently focused on two key priorities: good governance and elections, following the Gen Z–led protests held on Bhadra 23 and 24.
Speaking at the 107th anniversary ceremony of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, the Prime Minister said preparations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 have significantly progressed, with authorities working around the clock to ensure timely completion.
She said the government is eager to transfer power to a new leadership that reflects the people’s mandate expressed through the elections. Emphasising the importance of the process, Prime Minister Karki urged all concerned to cooperate in conducting the polls in a cost-effective, clean, impartial, and fear-free manner.
Stating that elections are the only viable option to move the country forward through constitutional and democratic means, she stressed that no form of anarchy should be allowed in society.
The Prime Minister added that security agencies are capable and active in controlling activities that disrupt peace or involve taking the law into one’s own hands. She also underlined the role of the community in resisting disorder and criminal activities, calling for collective efforts to maintain peace and stability.
