Minister Kharel leaves for Korea to participate in ‘Global ICT Leadership Forum’

Kathmandu, Nov 11: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel departed for South Korea today to attend the 11th Global ICT Leadership Forum to be held in Seoul.

Minister Kharel left for the South Korean capital this evening to participate in the forum, which is being organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) of Korea and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) on November 12 (Wednesday). He is accompanied by his personal secretary, Uddhab Bhattarai.

The forum will feature two sessions under the theme “Digital and AI Transformation: Strategies and Challenges, and Global Cooperation for a Sustainable Digital Future.” Ministers and policymakers from Nepal, as well as from Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan, are expected to take part in discussions focused on “Achieving the SDGs and a Sustainable Global Future through Digital and AI Transformation.”

Representatives from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and other international organizations are also expected to attend the event. Minister Kharel is scheduled to return home on November 15.
