President not to offer Dashain tika to members of general public
Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel is not offering the Dashain tika to the members of the general public on the occasion of Bada Dashain, the biggest festival of the Nepali people, this year.
The Head of State is not offering the ‘tika’ at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas on the occasion of the Bada Dashain this year, considering the present adverse situation in the nation, the Office of the President said.
Although it is a tradition for the President giving the Dashain tika to the general public on the occasion of the Bada Dashain festival every year, the President has no such programme this time, it is stated.
The worship of Sri Durga Bhawani at Dasainghars over nine days concludes formally on the 10th day of the 10-day-long Dashain festival, also known as Bijaya Dashami after the Abhishekh or sprinkling of holy water takes place marking the beginning of ‘tika’.
Tika and jamara are considered symbolizing blessings from the goddess Nawa Durga and they signify prosperity.
