Over 611,000 people exit Kathmandu Valley for Dashain

Kathmandu: More than 611 thousand people have left Kathmandu Valley for their homes for the Dashain festival during a period of nine days.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 611 thousand 657 people have left the Kathmandu Valley from various transit points during a period of nine days from Ghatasthapana, the first day of the 10-day Dashain festival on September 22 until today.

Similarly, in the last 24 hours alone, 58,396 people have left the Kathmandu Valley. With the beginning of the Dashain festival, the number of citizens leaving the Kathmandu Valley has been rapidly increasing, and in the last 24 hours alone, 13 thousand 326 passenger vehicles have exited the Valley, according to Traffic Police Office spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi.

According to the Valley Traffic Police Office, the number of vehicles that have left the Kathmandu Valley since Ghatasthapana has reached 113,415. Likewise, 319,015 people entered the Kathmandu Valley on 77,545 vehicles to date.

Large number of passengers is seen especially at checkpoints like Koteshwor, Kalanki, Balkhu, New Bus Park, and Jagati.
