Lahan municipality announces succour to family losing life in Gen-Z protest
Siraha, Sept 18: Lahan municipality has announced monetary support of Rs 100 thousand to the family of Bijay Chaudhary from Lahan municipality-1, who lost his life during the Gen-Z protest in Kathmandu on September 8.
Similarly, a decision was made to provide free education to Bijay’s four-year-old daughter up to Grade 12, as well as secure a job for his wife in the municipality office according to her qualifications. Organising a press conference, Mayor Mahesh Chaudhary shared the decisions.
He mentioned, “We have made arrangements for relief, education and employment to Bijay’s family members, intending to lessen the pain and suffering the family members undergo after the death of Bijay, the only breadwinner of the family.” Meanwhile, it was shared that during the protest, the demonstrators had completely damaged the municipality building after vandalizing and torching it.
Expressing his commitment to continue serving people, Mayor Chaudhary opined that preparations were underway to resume services starting this Sunday. The final rites of Bijay were performed last Tuesday in Siraha, after nine days of his death. He had been working as an electrician in the federal capital, Kathmandu, for a decade.
