Madhes Province deserves 35 percent of total revenue: Chair Thakur

Rajbiraj (Saptari), Sept 2: Chairman of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal, Mahanth Thakur, has said Madhes Province needs to be provided at least 35 percent of the total revenue collected in the province.

During a press conference organised by the party here on Tuesday, Chairman Thakur wondered why Madhes Province was provided little revenue while it needs to be shared based on the population size. Once Madhes Province ensures 35 percent revenue, it helps in securing development works, he argued.

I was together with the Prime Minister during the inspection of drought-hit areas in the province. However, the announcement made by the PM on the installation of 500 deep borings was still not implemented, Thakur grudged. Chairman Thakur informed that his party was continuously raising awareness of the government and parliament on drought and drinking water problems facing Madhes Province.

Also attending the event were the senior vice chair of the party, Jay Prakash Thakur, the district chair Sunil Jha and others. They arrived here in the course of the public awakening drive launched by the federal democratic front.
