Call to invest in Sudur Paschim’s tourism potential
August 29, Kathmandu: The Far-Western region (Sudur Paschim), dubbed an ‘ unexplored avenue’ for tourism, has been pitched for investment ahead of the Far-West Investment and Development Summit. During a tourism-focused discussion organised by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Sudur Paschim government, and Nepal Tourism Board, Minister Badri Prasad Pandey urged investors to develop the region’s tourism infrastructure.
He highlighted its blend of nature, culture, and adventure, stating, “We invite investors to explore and invest in Far-West’s tourism potential through this summit.”
Minister Pandey emphasised creating an investment-friendly environment by resolving legal hurdles and engaging the private sector, noting that a Nepal Tourism Board office will be established in the region this year with allocated funds.
Surdhur Paschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah echoed the call, assuring legal and investment security to attract national and international investors. The summit is scheduled for November 17-18 in Dhangadhi.
The interaction, held Friday morning at the ministry, featured presentations on the region’s opportunities, with participation from tourism leaders like Nepal Hotel Association’s Binayak Shah and Nepal Tourism Board’s Deepak Raj Joshi.
They expressed readiness to invest, urging the government to identify priority areas. Recent government moves include free mountain climbing in Far-West and Karnali for two years, alongside upgrades to Dhangadhi and Kanchanpur airports.
