President Paudel calls for ending corruption, boosting education and governance
August 29, Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Paudel emphasised the need to modernise Nepal’s education system, making it technology-friendly and research-oriented, while addressing the 75th anniversary and diamond jubilee of Madi Secondary School in Sankhuwasabha on Thursday. He urged linking education with skills, entrepreneurship, and life-applicable knowledge to drive prosperity.
Highlighting education as the foundation of development, Paudel stressed integrating it with agriculture, digital economy, and infrastructure to create jobs and retain youth. He called for modernising agriculture through skill-based education and fostering a culture that values labour to curb the exodus of young talent abroad. “We must prioritise education, health, and employment while creating a conducive environment for local enterprises,” he said.
President Paudel noted Nepal’s transition to a federal democratic republic through sacrifice and struggle, asserting that addressing delays and weaknesses in meeting public aspirations is crucial. He labelled ending corruption and ensuring efficient governance and service delivery as prerequisites for progress.
He also highlighted Sankhuwasabha’s tourism potential, hydropower leadership, and trade opportunities via the Kimathanka border with China, citing its fertile land for herbs and agriculture. “Development lies in agriculture, education, water resources, tourism, and industry,” Paudel concluded.
