More rights will be given to consumer court, Minister Lekhak

Birgunj, Aug 31: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that efforts are being taken to fully empower the Consumer Court.

At an interaction programme organized by the Nepali Congress (NC) here today, Lekhak stated that the government is focused on further strengthening the Consumer Court.

“The Consumer Court is doing its job. Also, the moves to empower the Consumer Court have been initiated,” Lekhak said while adding that the issue of consumers’ rights should be given a top priority.

Likewise, Minister Lekhak shared that his attention was drawn to the issues of the shortage of chemical fertilizer and reduced subsidy to the sugarcane farmers.

Regarding the cholera outbreak in Birgunj, Minister Lekhak added that the decision was made to mobilize the health workers of all three security bodies through the Ministry of Health to control cholera spread in the city.

Also speaking at the event, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya said that the Consumer Court was working to safeguard the rights and welfare of the consumers and the consumers could knock on the door of the court if any of the goods were sold at an exorbitant price.
