Implementation of constitution is slowed: Prachanda
Kathmandu, July 24: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has said that the political leadership has failed to effectively implement the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
However, he noted that the country has made significant progress since the establishment of the republic. Speaking at the Rising Nepal Summit, organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of www.nepalkhabar.com Prachanda stated that the time has come for a constitutional amendment.
He expressed concern over the mass exodus of youth for foreign employment despite positive economic indicators, and highlighted the irony of Nepal importing billions worth of food products that it once exported. These, he said, are serious issues that warrant urgent attention.
The former Prime Minister also pointed out that maintaining good governance is currently one of the nation’s biggest challenges, adding that corruption is fueling negative public narratives.
He clarified that his party is not against the private sector but emphasized that liberalism alone cannot deliver justice to citizens.
Likewise, Nepali Congress leader Dr. Minendra Rijal stated that Nepal’s human development indices have significantly improved since the 1990s. He suggested that all political forces should thoroughly analyze the root causes of growing public dissatisfaction.
