Prime Minister directs to expedite development projects
Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed to make revolutionary changes in the situation where development projects are not being completed on time, cost more than expected and cause suffering to the people.
At the 54th meeting of the National Development Problem Resolution Committee held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar today, Committee Chairman Prime Minister Oli urged the committee to identify the problems that have prevented the work from gaining momentum as expected even though they have focused on development.
He expressed concern that even though the tunnel of the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Project has been constructed, the remaining works have not been contracted on time, saying that such a trend will not allow timely results and production.
Prime Minister Oli emphasized that if work is not done through the contracted contractor or framework, we cannot recover at this pace and urged us to adopt a proactive and efficient approach to achieve a revolutionary change in the way work is done.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, provincial Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, and Secretaries, discussed the causes and solutions to development problems related to various ministries for about four and a half hours.
In the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Prof. Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari, made a presentation on the status and trend of macroeconomic indicators, the status of the Nepalese government’s public finance mobilization, the updated status of social and infrastructure development, the updated status of sustainable development goals and upgrading in developing countries, the progress status of national pride projects and first priority projects, the macroeconomic situation of the provinces, and the implementation status of decisions of previous meetings of the committee.
