‘Silver Triangle’ MoU for Pokhara-Bharatpur-Lumbini tourism promotion
Kaski: A tripartite memorandum of understanding has been reached among Pokhara Metropolitan City, Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Lumbini Cultural Municipality, adopting the concept of ‘Silver Triangle’.

Pokhara is the capital of tourism; Bharatpur carries religious and cultural importance, and Lumbini is the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha.
At a programme held in Pokhara on Tuesday, the MOU was signed to promote sustainable tourism development and cultural protection and promotion in three vital tourist and religious destinations, and collectively promote the cities at the national and international level.
The MoU was signed by Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya, Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s Officiating Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari and Lumbini Cultural Municipality’s Officiating Mayor Kalpana Harijan.
According to the understanding, all three local governments will collaborate on collective tourism branding, integrated tourism package development, organising annual travel marts, and expanding inter-provincial tourism ‘connectivity.’
Likewise, they agreed to develop an integrated tourism package covering all three destinations. It is stated that the ‘Silver Triangle Tourism Fair (Travel Mart)’ will be organised alternately, B2B (business-to-business) and G2G (government-to-government) meetings will be held as necessary, and joint tourism promotion and market expansion campaigns will be conducted, stated the MoU.
Each metropolitan and municipality will include the promotion and development of the Silver Triangle in its annual policy programme and budget, and the leadership of the Silver Triangle cooperation will be rotated among the three local levels each year.
Similarly, joint brochures, videos, and digital content will be produced and distributed, and digital information boards will provide information about the main tourist destinations of the other two cities in each city to promote all three destinations, it was shared.
