Garbage management usual in monsoon this time: KMC

Kathmandu, June 25: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has informed us that there will not be any problems with garbage management in the rainy season this year.

In previous years, the Kathmandu denizens had faced huge problems due to the delayed collection of garbage in the wake of active monsoons across the country. However, this year, KMC resolved the problems on time to prevent such malaise.

According to Sarita Rai, Head of the Environment Management Department at KMC, the road from Piple to the landfill site, Bancharedanda, has been repaired. She said, “In the past, Sisdol was also used for waste deposit with soil capping. As the road repair was completed on time this year, there would not be any hassles.

The landslides that occurred in some places from Tinpipla to Sisdol were managed accordingly, and walls were constructed in necessary spots. Waste management is being conducted in collaboration with private companies in all wards except the core city wards.

There are a total of 32 wards in KMC. Every day, 1,600 metric tons of waste are being managed from the Valley at Bancharedanda.
