On Air Station:

President’s women upliftment program saves mother and child in Kavre

July 30, Kathmandu: A pregnant woman from Gokule in Mahabharat Rural Municipality-1 was airlifted by helicopter on Tuesday, successfully saving both her and her baby’s lives. Twenty-one-year-old Renuka Lungeli, who had been experiencing labour pains since Monday evening, was admitted to the local health post and subsequently rescued under the financial support of the President’s Women Upliftment Program.

According to Rural Municipality Chairman Kanchan Lal Jimba, Renuka, who was in critical condition at the Gokule health post, was airlifted and admitted to Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital in Kathmandu.

Earlier, on Friday afternoon, 28-year-old pregnant woman Devkumari Pakhrin from Mahabharat-7, Bankhu, was also rescued via helicopter ambulance.

Most roads in Mahabharat Rural Municipality remain unpaved, and due to the rainy season, regular vehicle access is disrupted, necessitating helicopter rescues for pregnant women in distress.

Chairman Jimba highlighted the effectiveness of the President’s Women Upliftment Program in remote areas, noting that numerous women in rural regions have benefited from the initiative.
