Parliamentary hearing process for proposed SC Justices begins

Kathmandu: The Federal Parliamentary Hearing Committee has advanced the parliamentary hearing process for three proposed Justices of the Supreme Court and a member of the Judicial Council.

A meeting of the Committee held on Saturday has initiated steps for a parliamentary hearing for proposed Justices of the Supreme Court, Senior Advocate Meghraj Pokhrel, Chief Judge of High Court Janakpur Shreekant Paudel and Chief Judge of High Court Dipayal Shanti Singh Thapa, and proposed member of the Judicial Council, Mahesh Kumar Nepal.

Committee Chairperson Ishwari Neupane said that the meeting decided to issue a public notice seeking any complaints or grievances within 10 days concerning the proposed SC Justices and Judicial Council members.

According to Neupane, such complaints could be sent directly to the Committee Secretariat or via email.
The Judicial Council had recommended the names of Pokhrel, Paudel and Thapa last week for the post of Supreme Court Justice.
