Two boys drown in pond in Jhapa’s Arjundhara Municipality

Jhapa: Two young boys tragically lost their lives after drowning in a pond located in the Namuna Community Forest of Arjundhara Municipality-19 earlier this morning.

The victims have been identified as 12-year-old Mahasus Gurung and 10-year-old Sujal Gurung, both originally from Jirikhimti in the Terhathum district, according to Khagendra Khadka, Information Officer at the District Police Office.

The boys, who were relatives of Purna Bahadur Rai of Arjundhara-11, had reportedly gone swimming in the pond when the incident occurred. Local residents rescued the children and immediately rushed them to B&C Hospital in Birtamod. Sadly, doctors declared them dead upon arrival.

Authorities are investigating the incident, and further details are awaited.
