National Action Plan for Monsoon Preparedness to be effectively implemented
Kathmandu: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has expressed its commitment to effectively implement the National Action Plan for Monsoon Preparedness and Response.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Bandhu Prasad Bastola, at a press conference today, said, learning from the previous years, we will work to effectively implement the action plan for damage reduction this year.
For this disaster early warning system will be made effective, and the coordination and cooperation among the concerned agencies for monsoon disaster preparedness and response will be improved, given the monsoon season.
Bastola also shared that information will be delivered to the vulnerable groups, regions and communities on time by strengthening the early warning system.
The Authority estimates that about 2 million people will be affected by the monsoon this year. It may be noted that the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has projected that most parts of the country will receive more than the average rainfall in the monsoon this year.
