Finance Minister vows budget allocation in result-oriented projects

Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said the government would allocate a budget to only those projects having adequate preparation and a guarantee of results.

The project would be selected for re-prioritisation and budget allocation decided accordingly, he reiterated while presenting the principles and priorities of the budget for the coming fiscal year in the HoR meeting.

‘The aberrations in public finance will be wiped out. The allocation under capital spending will be decided based on preparation and investment modality,’ Finance Minister Paudel stressed. He further viewed that revenue mobilisation would be made effective for balanced public finance. The public debt will be utilised well and resources secured sustainably, Paudel added.

For the balanced and inclusive development, coordination and cooperation among the three tiers of government would be strengthened, he said, adding that reform in the fields of law, institutions and processes would be continued for the development of the private sector.

As he shared, the one-door service would be put in place for an investment-friendly atmosphere. Land ceiling, use of forest area, tax discount and return of profit would be made hassle-free by wiping out irregularities, he reminded. Social security schemes would be made just and run based on socio-economic deprivation.

These schemes would be integrated into the National Identity Card so that there would not be duplication, according to him. The next meeting of the HoR will be held on Tuesday.
