Those predicting government collapse are losing hope: PM Oli
Kathmandu: Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli stated that individuals who had predicted the government’s downfall following Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s return from Thailand are now facing disappointment.
Speaking at a meeting of the CPN (UML) parliamentary party today, Prime Minister Oli urged lawmakers to stay focused on their responsibilities and objectives rather than being distracted by misleading narratives.
“The illusion that the government would collapse has now faded,” he remarked. He further emphasized that the current government, formed through collaboration between two major political parties, is actively preparing balanced, realistic policies, programs, and a budget for the upcoming fiscal year. These efforts, he said, are aimed at ensuring stability, development, good governance, and prosperity for the country.
The Prime Minister also addressed recent violent and unconstitutional activities conducted under the guise of protest, describing them as reactionary. He asserted that such acts will be dealt with urgently and, if necessary, the government will take strict legal action.
Touching upon Nepal’s international relations, Prime Minister Oli referenced the agreement signed with the U.S. government under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), which has been ratified by both nations. He stressed that Nepal must now prioritize self-reliant development over dependency on foreign aid.
Prime Minister Oli encouraged lawmakers to engage in reflective and comparative analysis of important documents, to better understand current challenges, and to advocate for the people’s concerns in a respectful, well-informed, and constructive manner.
