Israeli Ambassador Bass calls on Education Minister Bhattarai
March 27, Kathmandu: Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Shmulik Bass, on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai, at the Education Ministry to discuss deepening ties between the two nations.
The meeting covered various subjects aimed at bringing Nepal and Israel closer, according to a post on a social media site by the Israeli Ambassador.
The meeting follows a history of diplomatic cooperation, with both countries collaborating in education, agriculture, and technology. The Ambassador expressed optimism about future cooperation, reinforcing the 65-year friendship established in 1960 under Nepal’s first elected Prime Minister, B.P. Koirala.
Israeli Educational Assistance to Nepal
Israel has been a key partner in Nepal’s educational development, offering scholarships and training programs that empower Nepali students and professionals. Through initiatives like the “Learn and Earn” program, Nepali youth gain advanced agricultural and technological skills in Israel, returning to modernize Nepal’s sectors.
The Israeli agency MASHAV provides specialized courses, while annual exchanges enhance educational ties. Israel has also committed to establishing a Centre for Excellence in Nepal, focusing on innovation and education, further solidifying a collaboration that has benefited thousands of Nepalis since diplomatic relations began.
