Top leaders agree to form recommendation committee to appoint officials of two transitional justice related bodies
Kathmandu: Top leaders of the three major political parties have agreed to appoint the officials in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons to conclude the remaining tasks of transitional justice.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s Expert Advisor Agni Kharel said the leaders in a meeting held in Singhadurbar today agreed to form a recommendation committee again for the appointment of the officials in the commissions.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ attended the meeting.
Although a committee was previously formed to recommend candidates for these bodies, it failed to submit its suggestions before its term expired.
The committee, led by former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra, completed steps such as calling for applications, preparing a shortlist, and conducting interviews but fell short of finalizing recommendations for appointments.
