Talent from different walks of life honoured with Prime Minister National Award

March 21, Kathmandu: The Prime Minister National Talent Award was conferred today to individuals excelling in various fields. Announced on National Democracy Day 2081 BS, the government recognized contributions in peace, governance, innovation, scientific research, and development. Prime Minister Oli, First Lady Radhika Shakya, and Deputy PM Prakash Man Singh presented the awards.

Honorees include Dr Chhiring Lama (telemedicine, Sindhupalchok), Dr Biraj Singh Thapa (science & tech innovation, Morang), mountaineer Purnima Shrestha (Gorkha), Dr Abhas Maskey (science & tech, Kathmandu), Hariram Shrestha (Gorkha), Dr Om Murti Anil (medicine, Mahottari), footballer Savitra Bhandari Samba (Lamjung), heritage preserver Rabindra Puri (Bhaktapur), and social workers Dilshobha Shrestha (Kathmandu) and Ramji Adhikari (Gorkha).

Established in 2018 with a fund created from PM Oli’s $100,000 award from South Korea, matched by Nepal, the prize offers Rs 5 lakh annually to two talents. After a pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, five years’ awards were distributed today. PM Oli emphasized honouring positive societal contributions.
