Problems of small-scale hydropower projects will be resolved: Energy Minister Khadka
Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, has said problems of small-scale hydropower projects would be resolved by making policy-level reforms.
Minister Khadka said so at a programme organized by ‘Green Energy Entrepreneur Nepal’ here today.
“Let’s discuss the problems of small-scale hydropower projects keeping them in one place. The ministry is ready to resolve the problems”, he mentioned.
The Energy Minister shared that the government and private sector should move ahead collaborating with each other for the development of the energy sector, adding the government was ready to work with the private sector for the improvement of the entire energy sector of the country along with small-scale hydropower projects.
Minister Khadka added the energy development roadmap approved by the cabinet would resolve the problems of the private sector and the government was committed to resolving the problems of entrepreneurs.
Similarly, the Chairperson of the Green Energy Entrepreneur Nepal, Surya Prasad Adhikari, demanded a power purchase agreement rate adjustment for small-scale hydropower projects.
‘Take or pay’ provision should be implemented and alternative arrangements of power production should be scrapped.
