PM vows to forward construction of GP Koirala Conference Hall in Jhapa
Kathmandu, March 26: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has vowed to forward the construction of the GP Koirala Conference Hall at Bhadrapur municipality-8 in Jhapa district.
A delegation comprising Nepali Congress leader and National Assembly member, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and municipality mayor Ganesh Pokharel reached the PM’s residence, Baluwatar, on Wednesday and requested the PM for his support to construct the conference hall.
The construction of the hall was stalled in the middle. Receiving a memorandum, PM Oli committed to the delegation that he would take the initiative to resume the construction of the stalled conference hall. The district development committee had contracted with a construction company to complete work in two years, but it was botched due to legal and budgetary hurdles.
The contract term was extended several times in the last 9 years. Top leaders of three major political parties, including then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, had jointly laid the foundation stone for the conference hall on July 13, 2015. —RSS
