CM Singh conducts monitoring of hotels in Janakpurdham

Dhanusha, March 26: In response to the growing complaints of insalubrious eateries in the provincial capital, Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Satish Kumar Singh, conducted a monitoring of nine hotels in Janakpurdham on Wednesday.

The team led by CM Singh inspected the food safety and hygiene status of different hotels in Janakpurdham.

The CM was accompanied by the ministry officials, officials from the District Administration Office, the Food Technology and Quality Control Office, the Office of Small and Cottage Industry and the representative of the Janakpurdham Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He mentioned that he started monitoring the hotels after receiving complaints that food in many hotels was unhealthy at Janakpurdham, though it is one of the significant tourism destinations for domestic and foreign visitors.

Though all hotels tried to maintain hygiene, it was not sufficient, CM shared, adding most of the kitchens were dirty and goods were stored in an unmanaged way. He clarified that action would be taken as per the law if hotels were found falling short of the standard.

Healthy food and hygiene are mandatory for hotels, CM Singh underlined. “The hoteliers must follow the suggestions and directions of the monitoring team. Otherwise, hotels can be shut down in case of non-compliance”, he warned. —RSS
