On Air Station:

Madhesh Province not to attend SEE

Janakpurdham, March 18:  Chief Minister of Madhesh Satish Kumar Singh has said that the provincial government will not participate in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) starting from April 2.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers here today, he said that the provincial government decided not to attend the secondary level examinations as the provincial government’s concern and decision regarding SEE have not been addressed.

“On March 10 a decision was taken to ch0ose the head of the examinations centre through the lottery system to make SEE dignified and systematic but since it was ignored the provincial government will participate in any SEE-related activities,” said Chief Minister Singh.

Various teachers’ associations and unions had opposed the decision and examination selection committee meeting chaired by the Chief District Officer was forced to take such a decision because the practice of appointing center presidents arbitrarily rather than through a lot continues.

“We had taken the decision after informing the National Examination Board but it was not implemented. Weakening the role of the provincial government is unacceptable,” he said.

Earlier, the Madhesh Province Educational Directorate, Janakpurdham, had stated that 88,858 students from 1,231 schools are participating in the SEE through 312 examination centers across the province. A total of 12,242 employees and 4,580 security personnel have been mobilized for the examinations.
