HoR endorses Bill to amend Some Nepal Acts relating to Promotion of Good Governance and Public Service Delivery

Kathmandu: The House of Representatives today passed the “Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts Relating to the Promotion of Good Governance and Public Service Delivery, 2025” by a majority vote.

Out of 145 lawmakers, 96 voted in favour and 49 against the bill.

The bill was put to a vote-sharing process after 28 opposition lawmakers called for a division of votes.

Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, presented the bill on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Responding to the queries of the lawmakers, Minister Gurung explained that the bill aims to promote good governance by making public administration more people-oriented, accountable, and transparent.

He added that any issues not covered in the bill would be addressed through regulations and procedures.

Regarding concerns over the Nagarik app’s security and data privacy, Gurung assured that the ministry was working on guidelines to address these issues.
