‘Nepal, committed to women’s empowerment’, says Women Minister
Kathmandu, March 13: Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens Nawal Kishore Sah Sudi has said that Nepal is committed to protecting women’s rights and ensuring their empowerment.
Currently in New York, USA, leading the Nepali delegation to the 69th United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), he made this commitment at a ministerial roundtable held at the United Nations Headquarters on Wednesday.
“Affirmative actions for women in various fields, including politics, governance, education, employment, and health, manifest Nepal’s strong commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women,” he said.
Stating that Nepal is fully committed to providing opportunities for women at all levels of the state and eliminating violence against them, he said that the legal and policy framework has been strengthened toward that end.
According to Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, Minister Sudi said that the Government of Nepal is ready to implement national and international commitments while giving high priority to political rights, governance, education, employment, health, and other sectors to ensure women’s equality and development.
