PM Oli urges university graduates to contribute sincerely to nation’s development

Pokhara: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on university graduates to apply their knowledge in a way that benefits the nation, emphasizing Nepal’s rich history in knowledge, philosophy, yoga, and research.

Speaking at the 20th Convocation Ceremony of Pokhara University at Dhungepatan, Kaski, today, he urged the graduates to use their education for constructive and positive purposes. “True success comes only through honesty,” PM Oli stated. “Success achieved through dishonesty is not beneficial to society. Even if you excel academically, if you misuse your knowledge for criminal activities like fraud, theft, or deceit, it cannot be considered true success.”

The Prime Minister stressed that graduates must prioritize societal and national welfare, warning against selfishness. “Do something meaningful for your country and society. A sovereign citizen should always act with dignity,” said Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University.

Oli further encouraged students not to feel inferior because of Nepal’s size, stressing that the sovereignty of a country is not defined by its size. “You cannot become a mahout by running away when you see an elephant. Face the challenges head-on with courage and wisdom,” he advised, urging graduates to tackle challenges with perseverance.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Nepal’s fertile land, encouraging the University to focus on transformative development, with the government’s support.

During the ceremony, Chancellor Oli awarded degrees to 7,872 students across various faculties and programs.
